Hailing from London, this producer describes himself as "Electro/ Powerpop/ Indie". Apparently not a well known name yet. I was surprised to hear people saying that they hadn't heard of Fear of Tigers. So that urged me to share his stuff coz he needs to made aware of.

Anoraak - Nightdrive With You (Fear of Tigers remix)



I first discovered him when I heard his remix of Annorak's "Nightdrive With You". And I didn't think that song could get better till I heard this remix. He keeps it nice chilled and doesn't change it too much, which is done much too often, and rarely done well. I think only the likes of Soulwax can really pull them off - using a tiny sample from the original and creating a whole new song. i.e.. Their remix of Robbie William's Lovelight.

Fear of Tigers - Sex with robots



Fear of Tigers' original production "Sex With Robots" is my favourite track by him. This song really sums up his sound. He has that 80s synth-pop sound combined with todays modern "dirty" (there's no better word to describe it) electro sound. Probably his heaviest and club friendliest track.


Fear of Tigers - Layers



This brings us to my second favourite which is another original production entitled "Layers". It's one of those that you listen to and you think its fairly good but when it comes on again in the background, you have to check it coz your ears really like it. It opens with pleasant synthy riff and rest of the song kind of just blends to end.

Fear of Tigers - To be loved (Mr B Remix)



Finally, the last track that needs exploitation is his remix of "To Be Loved" by Bent. At first listen I liked the general 80s/ modern electro sound this song has, but it really does just get better and better every time you listen. One repeated vocal and great use of filter, that creates a wishy washy and dreamy song.

Certified Air Raid Material (re-edIT)

For those of you who are familiar with L.As Glitch Mob Crew, you would have undoubtedly heard of edIT. One of the crews founding members, edIT released his second album “Certified Air Raid Material” last October with a little help from the cream of the LA underground hip-hop scene. The Grouch, Abstract Rude, Busdriver, TTC and D-Styles all contributed to the album which took a reported four years to finish.

Speaking on his myspazzzz edIT claimed that it was a bizarre four years, At one point his single “Battling Go-Go Yubari in downtown LA” was being pitched to Christina Aguilera by some friends of his. The track was rejected as being too Britney Spears for the Aguilera Massive!

For those of you glitch-hop heads who have yet to hear the ten track album, fear not. edIT has offered the album as a continuous mix for you all to get your grubby little mitts on. Tracklisting and link is below.

Ghetto

Those that know me know I love ghetto,i love the simplicity of it and the pure energy from the tracks.Most of the time the tracks themselves are simple and made with the discerning ghetto dj in mind,a chant,a nice 808 beat and just enough bang for a minute before you can cut out of it.Then theres electro,i love electro,and none of this shite that people call electro these days,i mean actual electro which leads me on to my tracks

First up is the dj di'jital remix of aaron carls party classic down,this however is a very stripped down version with roaring synths and classic 808 percussion retaining a lot of the same characteristics you would hear in di'jitals other productions specially as part of Aux 88

Next is Dj Slugo's all time classic Godzilla. I usually go for the Godfather remix myself but I was listening to this recently and I dunno why iv always passed over it.Im not a fan of some of Slugo's juke productions but with tracks like this in your back catalogue you cant really hate on the guy

This German producer is becoming more and more popular amongst the blog world and his name keeps popping up everywhere. The good thing about Mmmathias is that doesn't turn every song into a complete banger and he has the balls to attempt the impossible - remixing Sigur Ros. When I first saw that Saeglopur had been remixed, I was thinking "Nobody should ever try remix Sigur Ros". But I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered that Mmmathias had kept the beauty of Saeglopur while making it danceable.
So I went looking for the rest of his stuff and I found his remix of "The Youth" by MGMT, which is for me, their best song. He cuts up the vocals nicely in this remix, he keeps the chilled feel to it while managing to make it club worthy. Its addictive.
And to top it all off, he then releasd his "Mmmathias Mmmix Jjjuly" which again surprised me, by showing that he has a taste for the more banging side of things. This being one of the best mixtapes I've heard this year.

First up is London’s Tomb Crew, these guys have been making a lot of noise lately and garnishing a lot of support from the top brass, Drop the Lime gave them his stamp of approval when he played with them on his UK tour recently, high praise indeed and one only needs to take a look at their roster of upcoming shows to see how in demand these chaps are. I got in touch with them a good while back and they were nice enough to supply me with 4 of their tracks, the pick of the litterin my opinion being Inna Dat. I road tested this in Mr Jones Living Room every time I played and lets just say the ladies like it. I have no doubt we’l be hearing a lot more from these boys and hopefully see them over here soon too.

Next up is another UK act The Squires Of Gothos. I stumbled across their myspace page and was blown away, their tracks bang, simple as and their ODB remix was recently featured on palms outs remix Sunday. This track is what Dibby dj would sound like if it smoked johnny blue and wore its air max into school.Id imagine theres plenty more to come from this duo.

Lastly is Canadian twosome syntonics. Ill be honest with you, I fucking love these guys. I originally heard their track don’t stop pop and it was just me all over, ghetto with techno with a female vocal with cut up beats so as soon as I heard it I tracked their my space page down and chanced my arm. Luckily Barbi is one of the nicest people your likely to meet and they have supplied me with countless bangers since then, one of my fav’s and also one of my secret weapons every time I played in Mr Jones’ Living room is this remix they did of fritzmania. Real peak time stuff here and they keep throwing the productions out, stayed tuned for more news on syntonics real soon.

MSTRD PMP INTRVW

France, what is it with this place and bangin' electro music? I could go on and list of a whole role call of big name artists to come out of France in the past but you already know who I'm talking about and frankly, I haven't got either the time or the energy. Mustard Pimp however, I have a lot of both time and energy to talk about!

The latest duo out of the land of cheese and wine consists of DJ Mustard Pimp who is responsible for DJing, producing and making money and Mustard P who looks after executive producing duties, producing and making violence (or so it says on their myspace). Being one of the newer names in Fidget House, I don't know too much about them but I do know that they're gonna be HUGE  in the next few months. The boys of Mustard Pimp were kind enough to give Mr. Jones an exclusive interview where I found out what they've been up to,  what they've got planned and if they are really a duo or just one busy pimp.

S - Mustard Pimp’s a pretty new name to Mr.Jones, give us a little introduction.
MP - Yo! We're Mustard Pimp, actually composed of Dj Mustard Pimp (or DJ M Pimp) and Mustard P, two bastards from France based near Paris, we created this project around March 2008 and our major obective is to make violence!

S -How did you get into the music production?
MP - Wow, Mustard P started maybe around 4-5 years ago producing on Fruity Loops and I started about 6 months ago,however I'm Djing 7 years now, formaly i played acid house but reoriented myself to Electro House and Fidget House approximately a year ago.

S - Has your success been a long time coming or has it taken off fairly quickly for you?
MP - Can't say about real success yet but we've remxied the Crookers lately, mostly for fun but they gave us their approbation to do it, so we hope to be buzzin' quite soon!

S - Ed Banger, Institubes, Yelle… What is it with France and the quality Electro coming out recently?
MP - Actually I'm pretty ashamed of France for electronic music because most of the clubs don't take the "risk" to play something else other than commercial electro house here, however Mustard P likes Ed Banger Stuff, but I only like Sebastian's music in this crew. We also loves Stereoheroes and Don Rimini from France.

S - Music comes and goes so quick these days, do you think Fidget’s just a fad?
MP - Not necessarily, Fidget is one of many evolutions of the Electro House movement, in fact in fidget house you need to respect some standards like the beat construction and the bass but you have a better liberty of use in Fidget House than in electro house style.

S - Who’s doing it for you these days?
MP - The Crookers, Bryan Cox, Fake Blood, Stereoheroes, Bloody Beetroots, Hervé, Headshotboyz, Foamo and Hostage!

S - Outside of the Fidget scene, who or what influences you?
MP - Many things, mostly non electronical music, I actually listen to some metal music (mostly Death, Thrash, Punk, Hardcore) and oldschool hip hop (pre 1995), Mustard P listens to mostly rock and metal music (like Converge, DFA 1976, All Shall Perish, Queens of the Stone Age etc..)
But as electronical music we have really various influences (from Prodigy to Crookers, and from Bloody Beetroots to 2 unlimited ;))

S - Tell us a bit about how the Crookers thing came about.
MP - I met the Crookers in the Social Club in Paris in June and during their show I listened for the first time their track "Il Brutto", then I contacted Bot to know if we could do a remix of it for fun, he said yes and then we decided to do it!!!

S - Myspace seems to play a big part in getting people known these days, has it been the same for you?
MP - Of course, for some people myspace's viewing seems to have a great importance, this is also true for us but the best point is that permits to people to listen our stuff easily just by typing our name on google, the myspace link is always on top. However for about a year i noticed that the blogs are playing more and more a big role, sometimes more than myspace itself.

S - What’s the future got in store for Mustard Pimp?
MP - Don't know yet! We have some labels interested at the moment, two remixes and an original track to finish for september, so time will tell.

S - Any advise for bedroom producers who may be reading this?
MP - Be violent!!!

S - You gonna come and pay Mr. Jones a visit in the future?
MP - Of course!
