COCKNEY KNEES UP

I Like bass... Lots of bass, you know the kind of bass that's so heavy when you're in a club you're drink's all moving around the table like. That's what I like, and this chap Rusko has it by the jumper load. I'm not normally  fan of Dubstep, not sure why but I never really got into Skream and the like but Rusko's a bit special.

First stumbled across his stuff on myspace about 8 months ago. Cockney Thug and Cockney Flute were the two that caught my attention. They both still have that Dubstep thing about them but they're a bit more melodic. Cockney thug has this Spanish horn thing going through it while Cockney Flute (a Rusko remix of a Caspa tune) has this Kill Bill style flutieness about it...

Anyway, he's been kind enough to distribute his new mix for BBC Radio 1's Experimental show. You can grab it through his myspace, or to save you the hassle, I've posted the link below (coz I'm nice like that!!!) It's gooooooood.

Festival Chic

Another delightful day out there today, the Irish weather providing perfect conditions for a festival mudbath at Solas. Clothing wise, what to do?

So as not to put a dampener on spirits (sorry!) Mrs. Jones recommends fashionable rain gear such as this hi-gloss anorak from Guess? as well as Irish festival essentials, wellies. Office have a great range which you can check out here.

Granted in all that PVC you will, and be under no illusions about this, look and feel like a day-glo condom but on the plus side you'll remain somewhat dry and be less likely to collapse mid session on account of hypothermia. Your choice really. Rave on children!

Organised Kaoss

You might remember a while ago on the Mr.Jones Forum there was a video posted of Little Boots playing with a very cool sampler type thingie. Well I cam across a similar video, equally as cool and thought I'd share it with you guys.

The piece of equipment in question is Korg's Kaoss Pad, and it's a bit special. It's essentially just a sampler, but with LOADS of other cool features that let you record and mess about with what you've just sampled 'on the fly' in real time. I'm trying not to get too technical here!

This video is of Brighton-based, two-times UK Champion Beatboxer - Beardyman and his little rubber duck. Every sound you hear is straight from this bloke's gob. Not only does the video show off the immense capabilities of the Kaoss Pad, but it's cool as hell too... 

Even if you're a complete technophobe it's well worth a look and keep an eye out for Beardyman at a Bodytonic event near you late November!

I don't know about you, but I want one!

Oh mon dieu!

Just when you thought Justice couldn't get any more obnoxious, they go and collaborate with Dior Homme to make a Spring/Summer '09 Mix. You can check it out on the Dior website here.

While the mix itself isn't the worse, it all seems a little bit clicheed, especially given Daft Punk did a similar mix for Louis Vuitton for the Spring/Summer of this year. Also the above picture is waaaaayyy too reminiscent of dodgy 90s Calvin Klein ads for us to take the boys seriously any more. Thumbs down.

Fashion is a fickle thing.

Ever toyed with the idea with the idea of getting a tattoo but were too scared to go through with it? For those of you who, like me, simply bore too easily, there is a solution. No, not those shitty transfers you used to get as a kid (though come to think of it, enough of them could equal body art success) but rather for the ladies, tattoo tights. Nylon loves them and Mrs. Jones does too.

Widely available, our favourites come from Urban Outfitters, This Next and ASOS. Or if you're feeling motivated, you could easily make your own. Perfect way to edge up your rave gear.

Dan Deacon, Dan Deacon, Dan Deacon... YOU LUNATIC!!!

People, in general, enjoy good showmanship and decent crowd interaction along with good tunes to top it all off obviously... Well, Mr. Deacon here IS the crowd! And along with his amazingly energetic tunes and using an iPod shuffle stuck to a banana, this guy is pretty savage!

Dan Deacon has been around for a bit, but he's really starting to make a name for himself now. The mad bastard plays his gigs from the middle of the crowd! He has this table covered in gadgets and effects that he combines to make some of the best and original music I've heard in aaaages! And a good portion of his equipment he found in bins!

He's originally from Long Island but moved to Baltimore in 2004 to live in a collective of artists and musicians alike called "Wham City". He has spent almost all his time since then playing with the likes of Spank Rock, Girl Talk, Cat Power and The Animal Collective. He's a seasoned performer with many tours and hundreds of shows under his belt. He'll be at Electric Picnic too this year and I'm tellin' you now, he's not to be missed!
