My transition from Hip-Hop to Blogland was a fairly quick one. I
put this down to one man, Bird Peterson. For a solid 2yrs now,
everything this chap has put out has been on point. For the
uninitiated, Bird hails from Austin, Texas, is a frequent poster
over on Low Bee’s Hollerboard and Djs with the likes of Craze and
Dave Nada. A recent review of his latest EP states ‘Bird Peterson
is on some next level millennium buck rodgers party stomping
madness action for that ass’. And who am I to argue with
that!!! It’s the crossover between 90s Hip-Hop anthems and wonky,
fat basslines that gives his tunes the distinct Birdy sound and
he’s worked his magic on everything from Naughty By Nature to
Herbie Hancock.
Below are two of my favourites along with his new banger, a remix
of Busta’s equally heavy “Don’t Touch Me”
Thursdays nights the Twisted Pepper becomes Mr Jones' house, honing in on a yet un-tagged musical style fusing together house/electro/bassline/Baltimore/Kuduro and all those other gritty urban genres in between. Mr Jones also teams up with a number of local collectives including the Crafty Beggars clique for a monthly art & photography expo, "We Got Your Fashion Right Here" which showcases the latest clobber by young Dublin designers, as well as the Analogue Magazine crew who host a nice selection of live bands & performances.

Home to Mr. Jones! Find it on Dublin's Abbey Street, next to the Acadamy and across from Arnotts!
